Interview Preparation Checklist
Showing up prepared for an interview builds confidence and improves your chances of success. This checklist covers research, documents, practice, and logistics so you leave nothing to chance.
Before the interview
Research the company: mission, products, recent news, and culture. Review the job description and match your experience to the requirements. Prepare 3–5 questions to ask the interviewer. Gather documents: resume copies, portfolio, ID, and any certificates or references. Our Documents & Certificates for Job Interviews guide lists everything you may need. Practice answers to common and role-specific questions using our Interview Prep AI.
Day of the interview
For in-person: plan your route, arrive 10–15 minutes early, dress appropriately, and bring your document folder. For video: test camera, microphone, and internet; choose a quiet, professional background; close other apps; and have water and notes nearby. Review your resume and key talking points one more time.
During and after
Listen carefully, answer concisely, and ask your prepared questions. Take brief notes if it helps. Send a thank-you email within 24 hours, referencing something specific from the conversation.
